Students go swimming in Term 1 at either Richmond, Prahran or Harold Holt pools. They are taught specific competencies which focus on developing a range of skills, such as swimming strokes, water survival techniques and rescue skills.
The program recognises the importance of water safety education, including recognizing and avoiding hazards, making safe choices in and around water, and responding to emergencies.
By the time they leave Year 6, it is anticipated students will be able to demonstrate competencies outlined in the Victorian Water Safety Certificate.
